Hi all,
This is a download shellscript that uses rsync and CIFS. I assume the
CIFS is meant to back up from windows computers. Could be worth some
investigation. I didn't take the time to understand this shellscript,
but I really enjoyed the style in which it was written. If nothing
else, I'm keeping it around as an inspiration for when I write
shellscripts.

Subject: [ctlug] fmbackup - a sweet little backup utility
Several years ago I gave up on Amanda for Linux backups and took the
time to write a nice, full-featured bash scripted backup tool. Since my
backup server crashed earlier this year, I've been without a proper
backup system for the several Linux systems on our LAN, so I dug up my
backup script and revisited it, installing it on my gateway Linux
server. It leverages the link-dest feature of rsync to make incremental
backups quite space efficient.
It's a bash script, well commented and easy to edit, but fast and full-
featured. It comes with a complete man page, and a text README for
setup and getting started. If anyone wants it, I've made it available
