[GoLUG] Advanced tools for graphing, charting and automating visual designs?

All,

This is a follow-up to the topic of GoLug's (April) Linux Tales:

The Steve a.k.a (slitt) and the M.C. of GoLug mentioned he likes
the Lua (https://www.lua.org/) programming language because of its
simple and well thought out design. Then Steve makes the comment
that it (lua) would not in its current state be his go to language
for any and all small programming tasks. The reason and I might
ready agree is the support library of *standard* available packages,
modules and extensions are not at the same level as a Python or
Perl language installed base for any standard O/S distro.

Example:

 C99/C14: https://www.tutorialspoint.com/c_standard_library/index.htm

Depending of which compiler/environment you are
working in ... there will be included extensions to
access hardware/operating system)
(GNU/BSD/MS Windows/Xcode/Android/ARM/Embedded systems)

 C++: https://en.cppreference.com/w/cpp/standard_library

(see same comments for standard C)

 C#: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/csharp/

(I am thinking the whole .NET and other frameworks makes its env)
didn't say you had to LIKE it!

Python: https://docs.python.org/3/library/index.html

Perl: https://learn.perl.org/modules/ (CPAN) --
https://metacpan.org/ lets you search the 108,000 modules on CPAN.

Ruby: https://docs.ruby-lang.org/en/master/standard_library_rdoc.html
(GEMS) : https://rubygems.org/gems

PHP: https://php-standard-library.github.io/#/

JavaScript/ECMAScript/Typescripts:
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference
(not quite the same thing! maybe because this is an embedded lang)

TeX/Latex: https://www.latex-project.org/
(not a general programming language but still a
compiler for a document preparation system)

It's good for making - books, articles and slideshows!

So, if I was interested in learning advanced drawing/graphing/flow-charting
and organization charting software design tools ... where is the
starting point for tutorials and a large pool of pre-written examples.

Is there a standard data format for drawing *organization* charts?

While I have used various graphics programs in the past not looking
to learning another *picture editor* and computing aided drafting
(CAD) program or electronics design (EDA) or computer aided
manufacturing (CAM) tool.

So to just says try **Inkscape!** is not what I am asking ...
It *DOES* excel at logos, web graphics, business cards and post-cards.

I also know that 'gnuplot' does plotting of math functions ... but
I am not asking that question.

Am making this message very-wordy but not claiming any *completeness*
of this topic.

:-) <-- make sure not to miss this ...

regards,

David
