My experience with ChatGPT is a mixed bag. Sometimes it's wonderful,
and sometimes it runs in circles giving wrong answers. Subjectively, my
observation is that ChatGPT fails when the majority of the info on the
subject is contradictory, ambiguous, or just plain doesn't work. Which
describes a lot of stuff in the Internet.
One thing's for sure. ChatGPT has established itself as a great
starting point, just like Wikipedia. And with ChatGPT, you can learn
all the terminology around a technology, and approximately how the
pieces fit together. This often leads to more refined searches or more
effective queries on mailing lists and forums.
