I have a thought about this - if the menu activated on :focus, 
:visible-focus, and/or :focus-inside, could someone then navigate this 
menu system via keyboard?

That'd be a boon for accessibility.

I'd not ever seen that technique before with the stacked text-shadows(?) 
before.
