My hope is that eventually, the Wayland fans et al will see that Robe
Pike was onto something when he wrote about the requirement for a
window manager to be “transparent”.

Then, maybe GNU/Linux will take a page from the Plan 9 playbook which
it sorely needs: designing a windowing system like Rio.  We already
have FUSE, mount namespaces, et al, so it’s a matter of time---unless
political lobbyists in open source interfere.

Meanwhile, I’m grabbing popcorn and waiting to see what happens
between Red Hat and XLibre.
