Were you reading the same mailing list as me?  Or using the same Arch
Linux distribution?  Do you think that Tom Gunderson was that dumb?

I went back to the arch-devel archive and looked at the
discussion around the beginning of the transition to Systemd.

You can draw your own conclusion about how autocratic Tom Gunderson was,
or whether the switch had anything to do with boot times.  My speculation
about the effect of the FreeDesktop does not seem to be mentioned
either.  Maybe someone else can find these references in the discussions
on the list (or some other mailing list).
