I graduated high school in 1967 and my education sucked. My kids
graduated high school in 2011 and their education sucked more. Today's
kids educations are abysamil (sorry, my spell checker broke).

In most states today, they don't teach the kids to read by sounding out
words, but by some stupid trickery. They teach 5th grade math using set
theory, for gosh sakes. Don't try to help your kid in math, the
teachers will accuse you of sabotaging them.

My grandfather quit after 6th grade, in about 1897, and he communicated
fairly well (I remember him from when I was 4 and 5, just before he
died).

And DON'T GET ME STARTED on this hobby of drugging the ADHD out of 10
year old boys. You want to get rid of their ADHD, let them run around
on the playground and exhaust themselves. It worked on my ADHD niece
and my ADHD kids and my ADHD dog. Run them into the ground and their
little angels for the rest of the day, and oh yeah, they're good
athletes too.

When I misbehaved (a weekly occurrence in 3rd grade), my teacher didn't
tell my mom to drug me, she sat me on a stool in the hall and clamped
her clamp-on earing to my ear really tight. The one time I went too
far, she sent me to first grade, and the first grade teacher explained
to her little tiny students that Steve didn't know how to behave, so he
had been demoted to first grade. Mrs. Henderson knew how to deal with
rowdy students.
